Project Background
The Transport Fibre Network project to deploy fibre optic cables along key national highways. Spanning thousands of kilometers, the aim of this project is to enable smart highways, improve traffic management, enhance real-time surveillance, and support emergency response systems. Additionally, the network will provide the backbone for 5G readiness and future IoT solutions, helping to create a more efficient and safer transportation ecosystem across the country.
Challenges Faced and Mitigated
- Diverse Terrain
Challenge: The varied landscape — from urban to remote areas — made fibre deployment complex.
Mitigation: Specialized teams used with different methods (HDD/Open Trench for fibre laying in difficult terrains for urban areas and rural areas.
- Coordination with Authorities
Challenge: Construction needed to proceed without disrupting road traffic.
Mitigation: Multi-stakeholder coordination and careful traffic diversion plans ensured smooth deployment.
- Security
Challenge: Protecting the network from vandalism and external threats.
Mitigation: Use of secure conduits, physical surveillance, and real-time alerts protected the fibre infrastructure.
Our Approach & Solution
- End-to-End Fibre Connectivity
Deployed underground fibre-optic cables across highways, ensuring low-latency, high-speed communication.
- Smart Highway Integration
The fibre network was connected to traffic sensors, CCTV systems, and weather stations, enabling real-time traffic data for enhanced management.
- Redundant and Secure Infrastructure
Designed dual fibre paths for fault tolerance and implemented 24/7 monitoring for continuous service availability and security.
- Phased Rollout
The project was rolled out in phases, starting with high-traffic corridors and extending to remote areas, ensuring a balanced and strategic deployment.
